As a Transportation Manager, you’ll get to provide tactical oversight and strategic guidance for the company's nationwide private fleet. You’ll be responsible for establishing and implementing best practices in safety, compliance, maintenance, procurement, assist with driver recruitment and retention, along with driving improvement in overall fleet utilization and cost effectiveness.? This role is vital to the overall success of our fleet and in achieving our company goals!
Shift: 1st: Monday-Friday 6AM-4PM (approx.)
Design, implement, and oversee programs that lead to best in class safety, compliance, cost, and customer service within the private fleet and outsourced transportation network
Develop and institutionalize systems to ensure ongoing regulatory compliance (FMSCA, DOT, etc.)
Generate key metrics and reports from IT Systems
Support the accurate and timely reporting of monthly scorecard metrics
Establish fleet utilization expectations and build monitoring and reporting infrastructure
Assist plants in "right sizing" fleets to ensure customer service needs are met while optimizing asset utilization
Evaluate rates and terms and conditions for leases and purchases of new assets (tractors and trailers)
Review invoices for accuracy to contractual terms and operational activity
Execute loss control and risk management strategies to achieve business objectives
Own the ongoing relationship with the company's strategic transportation providers
Oversee internal audit assessment program to ensure fleet safety/compliance goals are met
Drive a culture of continuous improvement and engage in nationwide Best Practices
Travel up to 40% of the time
What You Need
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/Transportation Management/Supply Chain or related field
Certified Transportation Professional (CTP) preferred
Six Sigma/Lean certification preferred
5+ years of transportation experience
Demonstrated knowledge of transportation safety regulations
MS Office proficiency
Experience managing safety performance and programs
Understanding of supply chain practices and metrics
